We called up Rose Grant, who’s a Montana-based former pro cyclist and mother to a 12-year-old daughter, to ask what she wanted for this upcoming Mother’s Day, and you know what she said?
“An open schedule,” she responded with a laugh. That’s it. No mention of breakfast in bed or elaborate flower arrangements. Just a day with nothing planned where she can choose whatever she’d like to do. (Or maybe do nothing at all.) Most likely, that free time will involve an adventure with her daughter, Layla, who loves to ride her mountain bike just as much her award-winning mom. (Rose is a two-time Leadville Trail 100 MTB champion.)
“As moms, we get pulled in so many directions,” said Rose, a Flylow athlete who now works as a custom cycling coach. “For me, the thing that fills my cup is doing something that feeds my soul and fills that sense of adventure. It can be a bike ride or lying on a paddleboard in the sun, it doesn’t matter. Just doing something to feel rejuvenated.”

To all the hard-working moms out there, we see you. You are crushing everything from school pickups to ultramarathons, from soccer coaching to life planning, from CEO to PTA. We don't know how you do it all in a 24-hour day. (Our hunch is you keep going while the rest of us sleep.)
The list of things moms do for their kids are endless (most of us don't even know half of it), and the hours are relentless. So, let’s give back to those hard-working moms the way Rose would like us to: Give them unbridled time. (And maybe a sweet new Remnant Tote to carry all that stuff they always haul around, or a Flylow gift card so she can pick out what she really needs.)
